Real improvement for Linmeyer pool players

Southern Gauteng Pool Federation is a non-profit sporting body representing the Southern Region of the Gauteng Province.

LINMEYER – The Real McCoys Sports Bar is a newly renovated sport pub and grill in Linmeyer. They are part of the Southern Gauteng Pool Federation with two teams of 10 players.

They are sponsoring the Southern Gauteng Pool Federation players with the shirts, two kits, for the SA Open Championship.

Southern Gauteng Pool Federation is a non-profit sporting body representing the Southern Region of the Gauteng Province.

Their region extends to Eldorado Park in the southwest, Alberton in the southeast, Fordsburg in the west and all surrounding areas in between including Rosettenville, Turffontein, Towerby, Regents Park, The Hill, Kensington, South Hills and Klipspruit.

“In our efforts to draw more players to our sporting code, we try to keep our annual subscription fees to a minimum. The fees are decided on a yearly basis. The real question is: ‘Why is Southern Gauteng Pool Federation so valuable to our community and what impact does it have on people’s lives?” asked Freddie Botha, owner of The Real McCoys Sport Bar.

Since 2002, they have been playing an important role in the development of the children and youth of this community. The skills the people learn while involved in the club are skills they can take with them when they venture out into the wider world. They learn self-confidence, team work, coordination, social skills and how to cope with the successes and failures that life throws at them.

Other young people who were backward and shy when they arrived at the federation at under-12 level have progressed to the point where they are confident and outgoing teenagers. Imagine what it would feel like to have contributed to these successes?

Their teams have a good history of participating at the SA National Championships. Accolades include 2012 SA Plate Winner, 2012 SA Ladies team runners-up, 2011 SA Senior’s team champions, 2009 SA Women’s champion, to name a few. The number two ranked 2012 SA Junior, Braedon Chetty, plays for Southern Gauteng.

“We are a small organisation, but aiming to take our sport to a higher level. We would like our community and business associates to get involved with a venture in order to help develop this sport,” pleaded Mr Botha.
