Murder and attempted murder convictions of “Jub Jub” reversed

The Judge altered the four counts of murder to four counts of culpable homicide

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The murder and attempted murder convictions of musician Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye and Themba Tshabalala have been reversed.

The two crashed their Mini Coopers into a group of school pupils in 2010 while racing down a Soweto street, killing four of them.

The South Gauteng High Court ruled that both men’s convictions will now be changed to culpable homicide and their 25 year sentences reversed.

On Wednesday morning, Judge George Maluleke altered the four counts of murder to four counts of culpable homicide and set aside the driving under the influence and attempted murder charges.

He sentenced the pair to 10 years, with two years suspended, SAPA and Independent reported.
