October is cancer awareness month

ROBERTSHAM – Booysens Local Drug Action Committee (LDAC) will be hosting two events this October (18 and 25), highlighting the fight against cancer.

Proceeds from these events will be used at the Wellness Centre and donated to non-profit organisations in the South of Joburg to assist in the treatment of cancer. LDAC invites all people of the South to support these events, because: “Together, We Can Give Hope”.

All events will be held at Booysens LDAC Wellness Centre, 122 Harry Street, Robertsham (former tennis courts opposite Gino’s Restaurant).

The first event will start at 09:00 until 17:00. Shave your head to show support for cancer by professional hairdressers for R50.

Spray booths will be available to colour your head in support of cancer for only R30. Face painting will be done at R20 and Pink Helium Balloons can be purchased at R10 for the dedication ceremony.

There will also be a 3km family fun walk around the Harry Street Park in support of people with cancer, starting at 10:00, two water points are available for businesses to brand advertise and entry fee will be R50.

Stalls selling Halaal foods and various items will be available.

On October 25, the event will start at 12 noon and last until 16:00.

The theme will be “It’s a pink and white affair” and 15 tables are available for booking.

Each table will have seating for 10 people and cost R100 per person.

The host will be able to decorate the table in branding or décor. Prizes will be given for the best decorated table.

A buffet of pastries and cakes, coffee, tea and juices will be available.

Cancer awareness speakers and a modelling show will be the entertainment.
