Fun Walk promotes healthy lifestyle

There will be a range of activities during the day

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The City of Johannesburg’s Health Department in Region F will conduct a 5km Fun Walk event on Saturday October 11 at Rotunda Park, Park Crescent in Turffontein.

This Ward 124 walk will start at 07:30 and last until 13:00, to promote a healthy lifestyle as part of the Growth and Development Strategy’s 2040 vision, which aims to reduce the burden of chronic disease through healthy communities.

The purpose of the 5km Fun Walk is to encourage the community to live healthy lifestyle and form support groups and gym clubs. There will be a range of activities during the day, including dance, aerobics and medical screening tests.

All participating organisations will be given stalls to promote their services.

The organisations will include some of the City of Johannesburg’s departments: Citizen Relationship Management; Sport and Recreation; and private stakeholders such as SANCA, Old Mutual, WRHI, ANOVA and Virgin Active.

The 5km Fun Walk registration forms will be available at Eureka House, CJ Cronje, Region F Clinic’s, Rotunda Park and on the day of the walk.
