Ward 57 marches against drugs

The march educates about dangers of drugs

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Community members of Ward 57 have once again united for a common cause to benefit the entire community.

The ward has an illegal drug problem. On Saturday September 13, residents took to the streets to march against disruptive drug behaviour.

The march started at La Rochelle and moved through Ward 57 and ended at the Moffatview Police Station, with the aim to submit a memorandum to the station commander.

Ward 57 has always been a community that voiced its disgust at the unbearable behaviour of trading and taking drugs.

Some people even know the drug spots but, are afraid of what might happen to them if the drug dealers find out they provided information to the police.

However, the community and the police are still not afraid to face and fight this problem as it destroys the lives of many young children.

Community members from different political associations paraded boards which highlighted facts about the dangers of taking drugs.

Ward 57 DA Cllr Faeeza Chame took a very active part in the march, co-hosted by the Crime Protection Forum.
