Sharp curve causes accident

Both DA councillors, Ward 54 Cllr Sergio dos Santos and Ward 55 Cllr Rashieda Landis, were contacted for comment, but it seems neither of them know which ward this area belongs to.

WINCHESTER HILLS – At about 21:00 on Sunday August 17 a speeding car hit the concrete barrier and then the wall where Zohra Seedat lives in Winchester Hills, Rifle Range Road.

On this year’s Valentine’s Day another car hit her wall and her neighbour’s wall was hit previously. A sharp curve along Rifle Range Road from Crown Gardens towards Chrisville might be the cause of the accident.

“We heard a loud bang and on investigating we saw a man sitting in his car. He sat there for almost an hour; he didn’t want to come out of the car even when the ambulance came. Only when his relative arrived, he told him he was injured,” explained Zohra Seedat.

Zohra’s plea to the municipality is to put more visible measures to alert motorists about this sharp curve. There are three chevrons which indicate the curve, however she thinks more signs or even speed humps can be erected.

Both DA councillors, Ward 54 Cllr Sergio dos Santos and Ward 55 Cllr Rashieda Landis, were contacted for comment, but it seems neither of them know which ward this area belongs to.

SHATTERED: The concrete and steel barrier was crushed to the side of the road.
