Litres of clean water wasted

Cllr Landis, whose house is not far from Ricky’s, said she phoned Joburg Water and she was told this is a municipality issue. “I’ve been back and forth with this situation. We are still waiting for them to come out and fix this problem,” she said.

CHRISVILLE – RICKY Jaffer from Cynthia Court, Prinsloo Street has tried every avenue possible to stop clean water being wasted in front of his yard.

Water is streaming out from the Johannesburg Municipality meter, it is now over six weeks and it seems nobody cares. Ricky phoned the Johannesburg Municipality first and was given a reference number (8001887514) as usual, contacted Joburg Water (400184913) and he also contacted her local councillor, Cllr Rashieda Landis.

“I don’t know what to do now as I am now running out of options. All I need is this clean water to stop flowing into the street and in my yard. We can’t use our yard now because of this water. Everyone is passing the buck. I really don’t know whose responsibility it is. Contractors said they cannot work outside the yard, they only work inside. We are prepared to pay for a plumber to fix this, however we need someone who can stop the water first,” explained Ricky.

Cllr Landis, whose house is not far from Ricky’s, said she phoned Joburg Water and she was told this is a municipality issue. “I’ve been back and forth with this situation. We are still waiting for them to come out and fix this problem,” she said.

A request for comment was sent to Joburg Water.
