Geyser’s burst pipe causes chaos

These geysers were installed at Moffatview Old Age Home over a month ago.

MOFFATVIEW – When Mrs Ann Sloane from Block 51 Flat 1, Moffatview Old Age Home heard the clattering sound on her ceiling in the early hours of Thursday August 7, she didn’t anticipate the downpour that was to follow.

Her lounge was soaked as one of the pipes connected to the new solar geyser snapped and water damaged the ceiling and furniture. “It was around 01:00 when I heard a rattling noise. When I woke up to investigate there was this loud band of water from the ceiling. My TV and other appliances including the furniture were saturated with water,” explained Mrs Sloane.

These solar geysers were recently installed in some of the old age homes in the South, including Moffatview Old Age Home.

Mrs Sloane commended the swift response from the home’s office as they came to assess the damage. “I contacted Flora Molete from the office and she quickly sent people to my flat. They said they will fix the ceiling, though it will take up to a month to do. I’m not sure what will happen to the ceiling in the kitchen because it about to give up as well, as for my TV which was immersed in water, I don’t know,” she said.
