Cllr Radebe’s goals for the ward

Cllr Radebe promises jobs and community safety

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The man who was part of the city officials who launched Booysens’ Selby village, is willing to continue doing more for his ward.

ANC’s Cllr Radebe of Ward 124 said: “The long-term goal for the ward is to see people able to walk at night without being mugged or confronted by sex workers and drug dealers. Strategies are discussed in the Community Police Forums, and we have committed people who are working towards this goal.

“A short term goal is to ensure that service delivery challenges are overcome in the ward, because we cannot have people complaining about dysfunctional street lights and other poor services all the time.

“As for job creation, the executive mayor of Joburg, Parks Tau, in his state of City address has pronounced that jobs in the City will be created in Jozi@work, where members of the ward will be responsible for the closing of potholes and grass cutting, and many other municipal jobs.”

Community development is a very important part of developing the nation as a whole. The COURIER will continue publishing profiles on the councillors of Johannesburg South wards and their goals for their respective wards.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality received the largest budget of all the municipalities from the government. It was a great initiative, which can help create jobs and liberate people from chronic poverty.

With the recent high rates of unemployment, it would be good to see jobs created before many more people lose their hopes of getting employment.

The ward, like many other Johannesburg wards, has a lot of crime resulting in the loss of safety as people resort to other means of making a living.

Therefore, having a high budget can help if jobs are created and community safety is enforced by both the government and the private sector.
