JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Afeefah Patel (9) continued to make waves as one of the young leaders and youth ambassadors in the South.
Recently she was an awardee at the Lenasia Nelson Mandela Community Leadership Awards, hosted by Eastwave Radio. Gauteng Premier Mr David Makhura and the management of Eastwave Radio graced the event.
Early this year Afeefah received a certificate for being the LeadSA Youth Hero of the Month. The Robertsham Primary School grade three learner has taken the fight against rhino poaching to another level. Two years ago, Afeefah wrote a letter to President Zuma, pleading with him to do something about saving the rhinos. The letter was published by The Times and reads: “Please tell President Zuma to please look after our rhinos.”
Her father, Shiraaz, said besides receiving these accolades; Afeefah has addressed officials, including the USA and British High Commissioners in Pretoria.
