The event also included the Top Business Woman of South Africa for 2009 who assisted with the prize-giving.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – SA College hosted the Fire and Ice, Hair and Makeup extravaganza at Ridge Park Sports Club on Sunday July 6.

The show was a resounding success with an audience capacity of over 150 supporters and media representatives, along with other dignitaries.

The MC of the event was no one other than the ever popular comedian Nadiem Solomen.

The focus of the show was to highlight the expertise of the first, second and third year students of SA College, which teaches professional Beauty, Hair, Health, hair dressing and make up artistry.

There were three different categories, namely Red Capet, Funky Day and Avant-garde. The youth impressed the judges and the audience alike. Many commented on the excellent work done by all students.

The fashion designer Miss Boss Couture designed, made and fitted the outfits for the Avant-garde category; the designs were out of this world. From elegant to awe inspiring – it made the audience want to buy each and every outfit.

The judges panel included Kerry Gauden, a hair professional with many years experience, Candice Liebbrant, owner of Fabuloso Hair extensions and Eye Candi, as well as Clinton Els, an industry professional with vast experience and now part of the Matsimela Team.

Other highlights included a professional tap dance display by Janina and Nadia. In addition, a hair show was staged by GG Hair Art, where two top stylists cut and styled hair on stage while professional models strutted their stuff.

The winners of the categories were as follows
