Help rebuild Ma-Mkhize’s house

Ma-Mkhize’s house burnt down two years ago. Ma-Mkhize lost everything during the fire and life has been an uphill battle for her ever since.

ROSETTENVILLE – Region 9 Development Centre prides itself of being “A House of Hope” for the community of Region F.

With a proud 10 years of community service, they continue to draw inspiration from the spirit of the late “Tata Nelson Mandela”, a man who took great pride in helping others.

For this year’s Nelson Mandela Day, Region 9 Development Centre is looking to rebuild Ma-Mkhize’s house at No.54 Garden Street, Rosettenville. Ma-Mkhize’s house burnt down two years ago. Ma-Mkhize lost everything during the fire and life has been an uphill battle for her ever since.

With no one eager to help her she had to live in a shack at the back of her own house with her three children and no access to electricity, water and sanitation. Some residents use her house as a dumping site, which has led to it being infested by rats.

Every morning, Ma-Mkhize wakes up to a shameful place she used to call home. The centre would like to appeal to all the stakeholders, to help them rebuild Ma-Mkhize’s house. It is the centre’s firm belief that everyone deserves a decent shelter, with access to all basic services such as water, lights and sanitation.
