Woman survives attempted hijacking

The complainant was not be able to point out the suspect as it happened very fast.

MONDEOR – Mondeor police have opened a case of attempted hijacking. The complainant was driving home at about 11: 28 on Hantamberg Street, Glenvista.

The woman was driving a silver Mercedes Benz and while she was about to enter her house’s driveway, she looked in the rearview mirror and noticed a white Mercedes Benz ML with an unknown registration number coming from the same street.

She pulled off the pavement on the opposite side of her house to make way for the white Mercedes to pass, but an unknown man came out from the back seat and pointed a firearm which looked like a 9mm pistol at her.

The complainant started reversing the vehicle and the unknown male shot at her and hit the right front mirror, breaking the indicator light. She managed to reverse the car and drove off.

The complainant was not able to identify the suspect as it happened very fast. Her car sustained damages of R20 000.
