Pavement not properly fixed after water pipe burst

Residents of Kibler Park are up in arms after the water pipes were repaired, but the pavement was not fixed to its previously condition.

RESIDENTS of Kibler Park are up in arms after the broken water pipes were repaired, but the pavement was not fixed to its previous condition.

Some months ago the water pipe burst on the corner of Peggy Vera Road and Branksome Heights. Subsequently Joburg Water came out to repair the leak in the water pipe. Apparently the water pipe burst a few times before it was repaired properly.

But according to the residents, the huge hole in the pavement and part of the road were only refilled after a few weeks. They are however still waiting for either Joburg Water or Johannesburg Road Agencies to re-tar the surface of the road as well as the pavement.

In the meantime, the street names in the area were repainted with the Branksome Heights name featured nicely, but the pavement is shattered.

According to Ward Councillor Peter Stewart the water pipes were old and had to be replaced before the road surface could be re-tarred and the pavement cornerstone replaced.
