Support needed to fix Rosettenville Tennis Court

Finding a better use for this property.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Buyiswa Mehlwamakhulu is tired of the messy tennis court opposite her house and wants support to put it to good use.

The 55-year-old Buyiswa is not happy with the tennis court, because her children are still young but have seen dead people in the tennis court.

She plans to fix and use the creché inside the court, and then plant flowers and trees inside the court so that people can use it for something positive.

Buyiswa said she reported her plea to the City and was told she needs to speak to her councilor, Dennis Jane. “The court is right opposite to my house and my children have seen things children should not see in that park.

“I want to use it and put it to good use for the community. I will make it lovely so that community members can come, take photos and relax,” said a worried Buyiswa.

Buyiswa already has a soccer team and a netball team that could benefit if she could be allowed to make use of the tennis court.

She believes it could help keep children off the streets, off drugs and away from bad influence and deviant behavior.

“The information is broadly correct. However the process Buyiswa, and any other person who wishes to conclude a property transaction with the City, is to prepare a business plan.

“It, together with the appropriate application, must be submitted to Propcom, which is a company that handles all land sales and property leases that the City enters into.

“I can confirm having met with Buyiswa, and a second meeting had been arranged at which Johan from Propcom was to be present to facilitate the initial submissions.

“Unfortunately the meeting was cancelled at the last minute, but I am fully in support of Buyiswa and the use to which she wishes to put the property,” said DA Ward 56 Cllr Dennis Jane.
