Linmeyer youngster plays a Disney character

Oratiloe's is not in acting school but has the talents for it.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – 11-year-old Oratiloe Monageng from Linmeyer plays Pinocchio in Disney’s award-winning musical, My son Pinocchio.

The youngster, who previously landed a role in The Lion King stage play, is enjoying the acting experience at the People’s Theatre.

The grade five youngster’s parents are happy with their son’s love for acting and are proud of him as he landed the role after he played a character in the Cinderella production which ended in February.

The play will take place in the theatre till Sunday August 10, and those who missed it still have a chance to watch the beautiful play.

Oratiloe plays a rich boy who gets to gloat and has a dad who cares very much for him in this classic fairy tale told from the perspective of toy maker Geppetto.

The story follows the adventures of the little wooden puppet, who is magically brought to life by the Blue Fairy, who informs him that he can become a real boy if he proves himself to be “brave, truthful, and unselfish”.

Pinocchio’s efforts to become a real boy involve encounters with a host of unsavoury characters.

Audiences can follow Pinocchio’s journey from an awkward wooden puppet to a real boy and will be charmed by Geppetto’s transformation from demanding creator to father.

The production is set to a soundtrack of popular songs, including When You Wish Upon a Star and I’ve Got No Strings, alongside a host of new tunes by Oscar and Grammy award winner Stephen Schwartz
