Worrying traffic lights at South Hills

The intersection has a history of bad accidents.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – TRAFFIC lights at corner Southern Klipriviersberg Road and Heidelberg Road were not working last week, putting traffic at risk as abnormal vehicles use the roads frequently.

The intersection, which has a history of bad accidents, caused complaints from some of the concerned motorists who know about the intersection’s history.

Gigi Nxasana who is a commuter on the Heidelberg Road fears the intersection because he lost his colleague in a collision which set the car his colleague was driving alight.

“I want these traffic lights to be fixed. This is bad because there are abnormal trucks, taxes, private vehicles and buses using these roads frequently,” said Nxasana.

On wednesday morning, Outsurance employees were seen directing the traffic on the intersection with the aim of avoiding collisions from occurring.

The intersection accommodates more than one vehicle on each lane, making it hard for motorists to see every vehicle due to enter the crossing.

Bertha Peters-Scheepers, JRA’s Operations Manager of Marketing and Communications said: “Unfortunately this intersection has been down as there is currently no power supply to the intersection due to stolen cables.

On Thursday May 29, ANC’s Bev Turk took to the social media to inform people about the traffic lights and assure them that the traffic lights were due to be fixed by professionals.
