Police never came after assault was reported

Police officers made an empty promise

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – On Saturday May 10 around 10:10, Klasson arrived home to find a man who had been assaulted by criminals who beat him and took his wallet and cellphone near Klasson’s home at Rosettenvillle.

Klasson assisted the man and took him to his home where they phoned the Moffatview Police.

Hours later, the police had not arrived, even though Klasson phoned to follow up; he was told the police were coming.

They continued the unbearable wait, but at 02:00 they gave up and Klasson drove the assaulted man to his South Hills home.

Klasson feels the police failed the man, that he was disappointed by the people who are supposed to protect him. He feels outraged and wants the police to start helping people no matter how late it is.

The COURIER has been waiting for a response from the Moffatview SAPS communication officer, Constable Bila, but she has not responded.
