National and provincial election results finalised

Recently formed Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has secured 25 seats in parliament and becomes official opposition in two provinces.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) revealed the final results of the 2014 National and Provincial in Pretoria on Saturday evening May 10.

During the official announcement of the Election results, the IEC confirmed that 97 per cent of the voters expressed satisfaction.

According to Electoral Commission deputy chairperson Terry Tselane, the elections proceeded smoothly and peacefully.

He said, “We will see where mistakes were made and how best to prevent those in the future. This election has showed that we have much to be proud of as a nation.”

Final Gauteng Provincial Legislature results

  • ANC secured 40 seats
  • DA secured 23 seats
  • EFF secured 8 seats
  • IFP and VF Plus both secured a seat each.

Final National Assembly results

  • ANC secured 249 seats
  • DA secured 89 seats
  • EFF secured 25 seats
  • IFP secured 10 seats
  • NFP secured six seats
  • VF Plus and UDM secured four seats each.
  • COPE, AIC and ACDP secured three seats each
  • Agang SA secured two seats
  • PAC and APC secured a seat each
