Dangerous curve in Rosettenville

Cars mow people down in Geranium Street.

ROSETTENVILLE – Angelina Mashaba is very worried because of the avalanche of accidents happening in Geranium Street, especially between Garden and High streets, Rosettenville.

She said over the years the area has had many accidents due to the location of the curve. The street also dips and the motorists do not notice it.

“We had so many fatalities in this street, people from the nearby shops and school children use this street. People get knocked down by cars now and then. Recently a guy, who lives at the corner of High and Geranium streets, was knocked down and killed by a car while going to work. A family of three was also knocked down by a car, also a granny and a wall. We are in constant fear for our children’s safety,” explained Angelina, who has lived in the South for more than 30 years.

She confirmed that there used to be signs alerting unsuspecting motorists about this curve, however these are no longer there.
