Cane and basketry weaving skills for visually impaired

Registration is now open; the academy has the capacity for training 15 candidates.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – THE Johannesburg Society for the Blind Training Academy in partnership with FP&M seta is offering a cane and basketry weaving skills programme to visually impaired individuals (blind and partially sighted).

The programme endeavors to contribute to the development of competence in the furniture making industry and assisting in creating and sustenaining jobs for visually impaired people.

Registration is now open and the academy has the capacity for training 15 candidates.

The duration of the programme is eight months and the registration fee is R300pp.

Training will be offered at the Johannesburg Society for the Blind’s premises located in the South of Johannesburg, and candidates can be accommodated in the Johannesburg Society for the Blind’s residential facilities at R800 per person per month.

Johannesburg Society for the Blind’s is located at 159 North Road, Roseacre/Regions Park (Next to Multiflora Market) in the South of Johannesburg.
