Crown Gardens Clinic hosted a fun day

Brothers for Life was invited to address men about life and the importance of knowing their HIV status.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The clinic hosted a fun day to attract and entice men and young people who rarely make use of the clinic.

The event took place on Friday March 4 and hosted guests from the community and organisations such as Brothers for Life, the Johannesburg Health Department, the City of Johannesburg, Wits Reproductive Health Institute and DA Ward 54 Clr Sergio Dos Santos.

Brothers for Life was invited to address men who attended the event about life situations and the importance of knowing their HIV status.

Zulu dancers opened the show with a charismatic performance, which fascinated the audience and made people cheer and enjoy themselves.

Clinic Manager Vicky Manzini hopes men and young people can see that the clinic is not a place where they should only visit when they are really sick and have no other choice.

“I want to get men to talk more. Men do not talk and sometimes they have problems and at the end, they get frustrated and that is where something could end up in violence,” said Manzini.

The clinic is on a mission to help contain the spread of HIV/AIDS in the community as well as the country.

Men and young people are encouraged to visit the clinic as often as possible because it is their clinic as well.

Condoms are available in the clinic for community members to take discreetly during working hours.

The clinic also has a support group for people who are HIV positive or have AIDS and welcomes people who would like to share their experiences with other community members afflicted in this manner.
