JOHANNESBURG SOUTH- A leaked video shows a baby tied and gagged at La Rochelle’s Petite Bumper Daycare, so the owner could watch TV.
The video was leaked to Daily Sun by an insider who could not bear to watch how 16-month-old Solange was tied up and gagged.
The insider told Daily Sun that the owner Labeeba asked Solange to stop crying but she did not and that was when she fetched a tape and tied her mouth, wrists, legs.
The video has since gone viral, causing discomfort to many people who leave their children at creches when they go to work.
The Pan Road creche was unregistered and it has since been closed by the Department of Social Development, who were saddened by the incident.
The father of the baby, Valdores, had asked the owner of the creche, Labeeba, to look after his daughter for two weeks and for two weeks she had been sleeping there.
Valdores told Daily Sun that another child from the creche had told them that Labeeba poured ice water on them when they had wet the bed, but they did not have any proof.
The father asked to watch the video, but could not watch it till the end and he wanted justice.
Initially Labeeba lied that Solange was at the creche for only a day, and that she did not know where the parents were.
The Department of Social Development, City of Joburg and the Emergency Medical Services all paid a visit to the creche.
It is not yet clear when the video was recorded. A case of child abuse was opened and Labeeba was arrested by the Moffatview SAPS.
