Abbotts College Joburg South welcomes its new Principal and the SRC are chosen for this year.

SUIDEROORD –  Abbotts College Joburg South welcomes their new principal, Mr Willem van Zyl to their campus from April 2014. Willem joins Abbotts College from Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge, where he was the Senior Deputy Principal for nine months.

Prior to joining Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge, Willem was the Principal of Highlands North Boys High School and Acting Principal of Sandringham High School. Willem’s hard work in re-engineering these two schools, restoring and enhancing their reputations as leading GDE schools in their communities earned him a lot of respect as one of the top Principals in the GDE.

Willem trained at Goudstad Teacher’s Training College where he obtained a Teaching Diploma. He also completed a two year Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE) program. He is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Education Honours degree through the University of Pretoria and he is on the ADvTECH Management Development program (MDP).

Willem strives for excellence. He is a man that lives to teach, enthusiastic and resourceful. He enjoys sports and is an avid runner that competes in the Comrades each year.

Willem is passionate about the Abbotts College Brand and its ethos. He also has a deep interest and love for developing people which is consistent with one of his tasks going into the School, which is to develop staff and ensure that the School has a strong succession plan.

During his tenure as Senior Deputy Principal at Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge, Willem has shown that he possesses the leadership skills, work ethic, passion and the people skills required of an Abbotts College Principal.

Abbotts College (South) chose its Student Representative Council to represent the school for 2014. Mr J Strydom can be seen with the students (back right).
