Keep your dog from being a threat

Your dog could be a threat to society

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Over the past few months, we have reported numerous stories about aggressive and vicious dogs attacking people – proving to be a threat to society.

Some of the dogs were put to sleep by the Booysens SPCA due to their deviant behaviour, which endangered community members.

A number of people sustained serious, life-threatening wounds which left them traumatised and scared to walk the streets.

It makes sense that one could need the protection of these animals from criminals, who break into homes and steal when there is nobody at home.

However, there is no good reason not to be certain that your animals are kept away from people jogging or walking the streets.

It is advisable to keep your gate closed when you have animals that are vicious or aggressive towards people or other animals.

In most cases, these animals attack innocent pedestrians in the streets without any good reason to do so.

It is of great importance to acknowledge that vicious dogs can harm or kill children. Therefore, taking strict measures to be certain your animals are no threat to society, is important.

Councillor Sydney Radebe and Inspector Jerry Seemise of the Midrand SPCA, advise people to note that even if a dog does not attack you or your children, it could attack other people.
