No stop to speeding vehicles

Amanada Avenue, Glenanda has seen its fair share of car accidents over the past few years and now Beryl Avenue looks to be in for the same!

GLENANDA – Residents have been trying to obtain speed humps for their road but to no avail. “This road has become a nightmare. It’s bad enough for all the residents who live along here but our drive is right on the bend from Amanda Avenue and is concealed. Every day my family is sworn and hooted at as we try to either get into our drive our out of it! It’s no joke and we dread leaving our home because of the danger,” said the angry woman.

“A few weeks ago a taxi was coming down Beryl Avenue from Richmond Park townhouse entrance so fast, that he skidded on the bend opposite our house and took out the lamp post. The lamp post has been replaced but vehicles still speed and hit the kerb. It’s only a matter of time before the lamp post is taken out again.

Another lamp post has been put in but vehicles still hit the kerb.

“Since the development of The Parks townhouse complexes there’s no peace here in Beryl Avenue. If it’s not squealing brakes, loud music and skidding it’s something else. We are asking for help from Johannesburg Roads Agency before there’s a fatal accident,” added the woman.
