Stationery Drive a great success

Thank you for your contribution to our annual Stationery Drive 2014. It has been through your assistance and support that we were able to do a kind deed for the children of our nation.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The Miss Earth South Africa team says that without the support of communities contributing to the success of the 2014 Drive, they would not have been equipped to provide for the beneficiaries, the children.

Miss Earth South Africa National Director Catherine Constantides said: “Thank you for your contribution to our Annual Stationery Drive for 2014. It has been through your assistance and support that we were able to do a kind deed for the children of our nation.”

The burden of buying stationery at the beginning of every year is something that causes major stress to many parents, especially parents in low income groups, which is why the assistance from Miss Earth has always been well received.

“With many learners having to go to school without stationery, we understand the need for and value of education. That is why we appealed to the general public and business sector for their assistance and support with our stationery distribution campaign for 2014,” explained Constantides.

Miss Earth SA 2014 Stationery Drive campaign has been running for the past seven years, with 2012 as a benchmark for the project.

“We set out to collect 10 000 sets of stationery and surpassed this number by collecting almost 12 000. Each year this initiative has been welcomed with amazing support from corporations and the public at large. We have been able to reach schools across Gauteng, extending to Limpopo, KZN and Cape Town,” she added.

This stationery campaign is aimed at ensuring that eventually every child across South Africa will have their own basic stationery at the start of each year. The Miss Earth SA team prides itself in being able to hand the stationery to each child and seeing the appreciative smiles on the children’s faces.

“From people in the business of stationery to the general public, friends and family of the Miss Earth South Africa and corporations of South Africa, we say thank you,” concluded Constantinides.
