Killer cousins granted leave to appeal

Family of two men sentenced for a murder of a teenager Kirsty Theologo and attempted murder of Bronwyn Grammer in satanic sacrifice, granted leave to appeal sentences.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has granted the two cousins sentenced for the satanic killing of Kirsty Theologo and attempted murder of her then 14-year-old friend, leave to appeal their sentences.

Defence lawyers of Lindon Wagner and Robin Harwood aim to argue for a lesser sentence than the terms which were handed down to the cousins at the sentencing that took place on February 12.

The State did not oppose the pair’s applications for leave to appeal and the matter was transferred to the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.

Wagner and Harwood appeared for an application hearing before Judge Geraldine Borchers on February 18 at the Palm Ridge Court, to request leave to appeal Wagner’s life imprisonment sentence for Kirsty Theologo’s murder and the attempted murder of Bronwyn Grammer. Harwood would be appealing his sentence of 20 years for murder and another 20 years for the attempted murder.

The families of the two men vowed to appeal the sentences and maintained their belief that the sentences were too harsh. Harwood’s mother, Dierdre Moses, said at the sentencing on February 12 that she believed the sentence was harsh and that presiding Judge Geraldine Borchers did not understand the merits of the case.
