JOHANNESBURG – Residents in Glenvista, Mulbarton, Glenanda and Bassonia were without power yesterday from about 14:00 until 20:00 and in Kibler Park, Mayfield Park, Suideroord, Alveda Park and other areas have been without power for 19 hours.
“We know there’s a problem but there’s always a problem with the electricity,” said a Mayfield Park resident. “Power failure is becoming a real issue and City Power needs to address the seriousness of it.”
A spokesperson from City Power said, “Operators/technicians are still trying to locate the exact cause of the power outage. They are unable to place a time frame on the duration of the outage, according to them the problem is bigger than anticipated.”
It was expected some parts of the South which were without power would be reconnected at 07:00 but there’s still no power. “It is 08:40 now and we are still waiting,” said another irate resident.
