Maxi’s gives a dog a bone

Rescued animals get an Early Christmas from a Good Samaritan and Maxi’s.

MAXI’S Facebook fan of the month of December chose a worthy charity to be the recipient of Maxi’s nationwide campaign to support one charity every month.

“A heart felt campaign was started by Maxi’s to show their loyal customers that they care. Maxi’s believes in giving back to those in need, and does so with the help of their customers every month.   A lucky Maxi’s Facebook fan of the month gets to pick a charity which the nationwide chain of family restaurants will support,” explained PR Worx Account Executive, Shannon Roscher on behalf of Bronwyn Oliveira of Taste Holdings.

A party was hosted by Maxi’s on December 11 to celebrate the Facebook winner of December Marisca Le Roux as well as the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) which was chosen as her charity of choice.

Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL).

Marisca’s continuous support and loyalty to the brand was recognised and her charity of choice, the Animal Anti-Cruelty League, was therefore selected as the organisation that would benefit from a Maxi’s party this month.

“When you hear the name, Animal Anti-Cruelty League you automatically think of all the desperate animals in need of loving homes, but the thought of all the people behind this fantastic organisation doesn’t necessarily pop into your mind. Maxi’s therefor decided to show our appreciation to this organisation by surprising all the employees of the Animal Anti Cruelty League with a nice warm, juicy lunch,” says Bronwyn Oliveira, brand manager of Maxi’s.

Le Roux adds that the Animal Anti-Cruelty League has always been an organisation very close to her heart.  “I am always looking for ways to show them my appreciation because they do such a sterling and often, thankless job. As soon as I saw that Maxi’s was giving back to those in need I knew that I had to win this prize for them.  I did my very best and I am so pleased that my efforts were recognised. A very big thank you to Maxi’s for providing all the employees with a fantastic lunch and giving them recognition for their hard work.”

Heather Cowie, the Animal Anti-Cruelty League’s public relations officer was overjoyed at the surprise lunch. “It was a stunning surprise and we all enjoyed the delicious lunch provided by Maxi’s. Having our hard work and sincere efforts noticed by others is always an unexpected bonus, so thank you Maxi’s for making our day.”

Bronwyn Oliveira added that she is grateful for all the hard work and dedication of the Animal Anti-Cruelty League’s employees. “This party of appreciation is merely a small token to sincerely thank the staff of the Animal Anti-Cruelty League for their hard work.  If it was not for them, thousands of animals would be on the streets, suffering to survive. The selfless work they do for animals in need is amazing and I am sure that if they could talk, they would thank this wonderful team themselves.”

Maxi’s strongly recommends that anyone looking for a new pet should adopt, not shop! For more information on how to give these friendly animals a home, visit the Animal Anti-Cruelty League’s website on https://www.aacl.org.za/.
