Your small change can make a big difference

In some cases people have taken Cotlands tins, opened them, taken out the money and put the tins back in the stores.

TURFFONTEUN – The Cotlands collection tin initiative is almost as old as the 77-year-old organisation itself, and is a familiar sight in stores across Johannesburg.

These small cans of hope enable Cotlands to provide children with access to early learning resources and opportunities.

Sadly, their tin collection project has recently been damaged by rumours that the organisation and / or the project have closed, but this is certainly not the case. Former tin reps Gavern Cradick and Ron and Dot Fennell, resigned from Cotlands to assist another organisation get their tin project off the ground, but Cotlands have replaced them with dedicated and passionate staffers who are keen to get the tin project back to full strength.

While a 10 cent coin may not seem like a lot to some, each donation contributes towards providing a child with the care they need to thrive in their formative years. The tin initiative is vital to the survival of the organisation as the money received goes directly to improving the lives of children who have already been exposed to difficult situations.

To all store owners who have hosted and continue to host Cotlands tin, a very big thank you. Please take note of the change in personnel, and if you have any concerns, do contact Kelsley Sharple.

A good guide to the authenticity of any tin rep, regardless of which charity they are assisting, is that they deliver an empty, un-tampered tin to replace the full one they are collecting.

A big thank you too, to everyone who places their small change in Cotlands’ tins. Know that you are part of the bigger community that is helping to improve the lives of thousands of children.

Please consider hosting a tin at your store’s till point, at your school, or at your church.
