JRA avoids Olifantsvlei overflow

Johannesburg Roads Agency steps up and clears heavy rain debris.

KIBLER PARK – The last few weeks of November saw heavy rainfall in the south of Johannesburg, which have in the past resulted in an overflow of stormwater in the Olifantsvlei spruit.

Stormy weather conditions over the last week leading to the weekend of the first of December has had the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) placing high importance on preventing overflow of the spruit flowing through Olifantsvlei in Kibler Park.

Municipal workers were spotted on November 25; working beneath the Olifantsvlei Bridge situated under Swartkoppies Road, removing stacks of debris which had been swept up by the recent heavy rains clogging the waterway which the spruit flows through.

The South African Weather Service has recorded high probability of showers and thunder showers.
