Man found dead in Rosettenville

The man was seen by people passing-by, but he was already dead.

ROSETTENVILLE – A man in his thirties was found dead on the corner of Short and Violet streets, Rosettenville, by a passer-by on Wednesday November 6.

Firstly a jogger saw him lying facing down around 05:45 and the other eye-witness saw him around 06:30 still facing down. “I went to him because I thought he was just lying there drunk, however, when I saw he was not moving, I asked someone to call the police,” said the eye-witness.

Short Street is next to South Rand Hospital and it is characterised with filth and long grass. Residents around the area have often complained about long grass and filthy water that comes from the hospital. “We cut our grass in front of our yard but the hospital doesn’t. Sometimes sewage runs through the street for ages,” said one of the residents.

According to the residents, there are people roaming around the area and the untidy environment attracts these people. Identity of the body is unknown. Emergency Medical Services and Moffatview Police were at the scene.

The COURIER is still waiting for the official statements from the authorities.
