Booysens successful arrests

Fifty six arrests made by Booysens Police over the week of September 30 to October 7

BOOYSENS – Over the week of September 30 to October 7 there were a total of 56 arrests. These include; one – attempted murder, 12 – drunken driving, four – fraud and nine – possession of dagga.

Good work by members at VISPOL and Detectives branch.

Detective Sgt Chabalala – suspect sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. The suspect was sentenced as follows: Count 1, murder – 15 years, Count 2, malicious damage to property – two years and count 3, assault – 60 days. It was said that Count 2 and 3 will run concurrently with the murder cases, therefore the suspect will spend 15 years in jail.

Warrant Officer Shai, Sgt Ndaba, Cst Mabasa, Cst Mathebe, Cst Ngwenya and Cst Thage were working together doing crime prevention duties when WO Shai received information about community members committing fraud. The team planned what they were going to do with this information. They then approached the flat and were able to apprehend four suspects inside.

The suspects were involved in transferring a large amount of money to a fraudulent bank account. The members also found various jewellery, watches and cellphones to the value of R100 000.

Five laptops were confiscated as it is believed they were involved in the commission of crime.
