Rape allegations rock Mondeor school

Youngsters caught red-handed attempting to rape a woman at a Mondeor park.

MONDEOR – Four learners allegedly from a school in Mondeor south of Johannesburg, were reportedly arrested by Mondeor police Officers on the morning of October 18, allegedly for rape.

Although the school’s officials had confirmed knowledge of the rape incident, no information was provided on whether indeed the arrested learners were in fact pupils at the school in question. It has also been reported by officials that there may not have been an actual rape that took place, but an incident of attempted rape.

Mondeor SAPS Spokesperson, Sibongile Mnguni was unavailable for comment at time of going to print but it has been determined that the four youngsters are detained at Mondeor Police station.

When the CHRONICLE phoned Sector 2 Crime Policing Forum coordinator Michelle Pelser, who was called to the scene by members of the Mondeor community, she helped to provide clarity on details of the incident.

According to Pelser, the four youths had been sitting at Bellefield Park in Mondeor wearing school uniform, which she says could have been bought anywhere, by anyone; when a lady in her thirties walked past the park and spotted the boys.

It is reported by the builders who assisted the woman in fighting off the suspects that had already managed to rip the woman’s clothes off, and rob her of her belongings, that the young suspects had stabbed the victim’s hand and had also attempted to stab her face.

“Sector 2 Crime Policing Forum would like to thank the four builders and some of the residents who came to the ladies rescue,” said Pelser.

The suspect’s identities could not immediately be established as they reportedly did not have any identification on them.

A report is said to be on its way to the Gauteng Department of Education Johannesburg South District, detailing the allegations made against the arrested alleged learners and what recourse should thereafter be taken should it be determined the suspects are learners at the school.
