Five bouncers launch an attack on young people

A good time at a Johannesburg night club turned sour after alleged disagreement.

JOHANNESBURG – The atmosphere of excitement surrounding matric dances is electric; it’s an occasion that is always anticipated by matriculants, their friends and parents.

However, the fun quickly dissolved as five youths from Johannesburg South and Alberton prepared to leave the dance held at a Club in North of Johannesburg.

Reportedly, as they made their way out of the venue to their car, three of the five friends all in their early twenties were attacked by five night club bouncers.

Nathan Delport (22) from Suideroord, Tiaan Van Niekerk (21) from New Redruth in Alberton and Duncan Delport (22) from Southdale all sustained serious injuries after the bouncers assaulted them for ‘no reason at all’.

“Duncan got packed by five bouncers who kicked and hit him in his face, and the club DJ instigated the whole thing” said a witness. “He did not hit back once.”

According to the youngsters the violent incident was not provoked by either of them but it seems the five night club bouncers got upset when Duncan was spotted holding on to a railing at the entrance of the club, and allegedly that is where and how the argument and beating started.

“They pulled him by his collar that is when Duncan went up to the bouncer and told him that was not necessary as his friends had just called him,” explained the witness.

Efforts by Duncan’s friends to intervene and bring calm to the situation reportedly aggravated the night club bouncers even more.

“Nathan and Tiaan also got hit when they tried to help. Duncan’s phone got lost in the fight.”

The youths said their efforts to get assistance from the night club manager all hit a dead end, as allegedly the management seemed uninterested in making any serious moves.

Owner of the night club in question, Dean, said that his bouncers did not and do not beat any patrons. Although, upon further enquiry by a reporter he alleged that, ‘one bouncer had been fired’. According to the owner, he had identified the five youths to have been the “trouble-makers” in the incident that resulted in the violent assault.

He did, however, request the contact details of the witness who informed the CHRONICLE of the occurrence, supposedly to bring a fitting end to the matter. Reportedly, no conclusion had been reached upon time of going to print as Dean’s promise to get back to the witness had not been fulfilled.

“Duncan had to go to a doctor and have x-rays. He does not have medical aid so that means he had to pay cash for everything!”

What the youths say they require, is for the night club owner and manager to assume responsibility for the medical bills incurred as the victim had to undergo scans to determine the extent of damage caused by the beating. To date, Duncan’s eardrum had allegedly burst, requiring further medical treatment and an increase to their medical bill woes.

CHRONICLE is still investigating.
