Whisper Cares – for the elderly

Stan Almeida: I have seen many elderly people in Alberton and it is pathetic how some of them are living, because nobody is willing to lend a helping hand.”

ALBERTON: God gave him a heart to care, so Stan Almendro started a Facebook page and Twitter account called Whisper Cares, caring for six elderly people in need of help.

Stan had a difficult life growing up, although he met a wonderful woman and married her, who also has a beautiful heart that loves to care for people in need.

“I feel blessed and that is why I want to help people. I have seen many elderly people in Alberton and it is pathetic how some of them are living, because nobody is willing to lend a helping hand,” said Stan.

Whisper Cares started in July, by August 3 they received their first donation of R3 000. Whatever money they get, they hand out to the elderly, although Stan keeps a close eye to see what the money is used for.

He would like more people to help and knows that there is never any guarantee, “I would like businesses to contact me and help on a regular basis.” Soon Whisper Cares will have their own bank account.

Soon it will also be an NGO with a charity number and they would like to expand the help, although they need the help of the community and public support.

“There was a lady in Kimberly who donated a R100 every month and a few other people can do the same, it would help put food in the elderly’s tummies,” ended Stan with a pleading heart.
