JSPCA has a winner

Even young children can be ambassadors for JSPCA.

IN line with International Homeless Animals Day on August 17, JSPCA ran a competition where they asked children to develop a poster that depicted “Adopting an animal from the JSPCA”.

Layla van Es is the winner! “Layla has just turned seven and it’s wonderful to see how she has fond memories and good associations with the Society.

“I met Layla personally when she and her mom came to hand in her poster. Layla is absolutely wonderful and speaking with her, she showed such compassion and love for animals,” says Jolene Beyleveld, PR officer at JSPCA.

Layla said, “The picture shows a family and the dogs are part of the family. I remember visiting the Society to adopt each of the dogs and the building in the picture is the Johannesburg SPCA. The flowers are lovely and I love the dogs (and my family) very much.”

Layla’s dad Dieter says, “We love the dogs very much and consider them part of the family. We give them good quality dog-food and they sleep inside. They are exceptionally well behaved and only bark if there is a perceived danger. Ironically, we adopted Scully shortly after he was returned to JSPCA because he did not bark enough after he was adopted! They are fabulous with the two small girls who play with them every day. They are very gentle and patient and never snap.”
