Why is recycling important?

SHELDON WEITZ: “It’s important because we get to learn about our environment in an up-close level. Without recycling, we could’ve been a dumping place because recycling helps keep our cities clean.”

THE COURIER took the question of recycling to the streets, and this is what the readers said.

JUDITH MOFOKENG: “I don’t know much about recycling but I know it has an impact on job creation. Some people depend on recycling to support their families, and based on that one can see what the value of recycling is. ”

WELNA SCHLEBUSCH: “Recycling is very important for our environment and for job creation. Without recycling, we could have been living in filthy conditions and a lot of people could’ve lost their lives due to unhealthy conditions.”

SIPHIWE MAPE: “I never paid any interest in recycling, but its importance is key. Our environment is becoming cleaner and cleaner every day.”

RUDY ELS: “This recycling thing has been going for some time now. It has helped a lot really in our communities clean and young children are being taught in schools about recycling so it’s important for people to recycle for the bettering of our environment.”
