Residents speak about the separation of garbage and recyclable waste.
KHULI NDLOVU: “I do separate waste because as it was said that if we as residents fail to separate, the Robinson dumping site will be full in the next coming years. Separating waste will not only benefit the municipal but us residents as well.”
LOCAL residents were advised to separate garbage and recyclable waste by waste management from July 1. The COURIER asked the residents whether they have started to separate their garbage.
MICHAEL DE BEGER: “The people that I believe have complied to that are guys who collect waste on the streets. But, as for me, I don’t know much regarding separation of waste but maybe in due time.”PASTOR NDLOVU: “We as residents can separate garbage and recyclable waste only if the municipality can work with residents regarding this, not via tenders. Some residents don’t know how to separate garbage from recyclable waste. Educating about this is pivotal.’’LEBO MOSIBUDI: “Honestly, I haven’t complied to that. I am clueless when it comes to waste management things. I believe that if we as residents can be taught about this it will help.”MATSHEPO KUNENE: “Recycling, in particular, will help our townships to be clean and create more opportunities for other residents. If garbage and recyclable waste are well managed it will prevent air pollution.”
