[GALLERY + VIDEOS]: Fallen SAPS heroes and heroines honoured at Rand Show

The Letsema La Bana programme is a celebration that showcases what the SAPS does in support of community safety.

THE eleventh Letsema La Bana programme was held on April 6 at the Rand Show.

WELCOME: Craig Newman (CEO of the Johannesburg Expo Centre) welcomes everyone.

Honoured guests were the wives, husbands and children of SAPS officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, Craig Newman (CEO of the Johannesburg Expo Centre), TMPD, JMPD, provincial SAPS, various MMCs and CPF representatives.

SALUTE: Brigadier Tobie Terblanche address the families.

FIELD: Takalani Sesame characters on the field.

One thousand balloons were released by the family members in remembrance and in honor of the fallen heroes and heroines. Cluster commander of the Gauteng province, Brigadier Tobie Terblanche, and Tshwane MMC for Public Safety Derrick Kissoonduth addressed the families saying that they honour the fallen officers and their families. They spoke words of encouragement to the families to help them not lose hope.

SPONSORS: All the sponsors for the day were given certificates of appreciation.

There was a host of activities and events planned for the families by the Rand Show. The children got to interact with Takalani Sesame characters and were all given goodie bags. Everyone spent the day enjoying the parade by the SAPS band and all that the Rand Show has to offer. They were also treated to lunch and there was entertainment provided by the SAPS band and choir.
