Crown Gardens sewing project

Premi Roopanand who is spearheading the project said her aim is to make sure that these ladies achieve their goals by having a fashion show with gifts and glamour later this year

NOW skilled sewing ladies who never knew how to thread a needle or use a sewing machine have bought their sewing machines.

Through learning at the Crown Garden Sewing Project, they are now able to make their own garments. These ladies want to acquire new skills in dressmaking.

Premi Roopanand, who is spearheading the project, said her aim is to make sure that these ladies achieve their goals by having a fashion show with gifts and glamour later this year. “I want them to design and sew the clothes to show their talent. I would also like to thank people who opened their hearts and donated sewing machines and fabric. Any person interested can join in,” she said.

Again Premi urges the community to join them and empower themselves through dressmaking. “Why don’t you join them in the project and become a businesswoman?” she said. She can be contacted on 072 750 0375, and you can join them at Crown Gardens Recreation Centre every Thursday from 09:00 to 12:00.
