Southern Gauteng Provincial Pistol Championships

The Alberton Sports Shooting Club recently hosted the Southern Gauteng Sports Shooting Association Provincial Championship at their range in Alrode.

ALBERTON Sports Shooting Club recently hosted the Southern Gauteng Sports Shooting Association Provincial Championship at its range in Alrode.

The event, which was held over three days on Saturday, March 12, Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19, attracted 82 entries, with some coming from as far afield as the Western Province.

Shooting conditions were ideal, with good weather prevailing on all three days, and 26 different events were shot, with a very high standard of shooting overall. Members of the Alberton Sports Shooting Club took top honours in 17 events, winning a number of silver and bronze medals.

The top performer was Andy Charalambous, a member of Alberton. Andy shot scores of 298 out of a possible 300 in the Carry Gun, Pocket Pistol and Police Pistol events.

Participants complimented the organisation on its running of this championship, and all were looking forward to another event of this kind at this range.
