Cyclists to turn out for National Classic Cycle race

The 32nd edition of the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic Cycle Race.

The 32nd edition of the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic Cycle Race will take place on Sunda,y February 21.

The race starts at Carnival City passing the outskirts of Boksburg, Germiston, the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve, Heidelberg and Nigel before finishing at Carnival City.

The public is urged to look out for information signs which will be erected along the route to minimise inconvenience. In addition, a rolling road closure will take place for certain licensed categories from 06:00 on the day of the event.

The Carnival City Macsteel National Classic Cycle Race is organised annually by the Rotary Club of Germiston and Germiston Wheelers Cycle Club. Proceeds raised from the race are put into Rotary Community Projects in needy communities, The Rotary Foundation, Germiston Wheelers Charity Projects and the development of amateur cycling.

Standard online entries closed. Cyclists still keen to enter the race can contact the race office on 072 678 2140 or by emailing info@germistonclassic.co.za. Late entries may also be accepted at Tour de Frans Cycle shop or even at Carnival City on race day, but only if you get there very early

The race distance and entry fees are:

121km – R280

103km – R270

65km – R190

Once again, ChampionChip will be used to provide accurate timing and results for this event. All cyclists, including licensed cyclists, are required to make use of a ChampionChip. Those cyclists that do not have a chip can purchase one with their entry.
