Violation of bylaws in Alberton

THE RECORD has received several complaints by residents about the alleged violation of bylaws in Alberton.

THE RECORD has received several complaints by residents about the alleged violation of bylaws in Alberton.

Several problem areas have been identified by complainants, who allege the following:

* cars being repaired outside on the street on the corner of Kritzinger and Pieter Uys streets

* two residences on Charles Cilliers Street (illegal workshop, fixing cars and revving engines)

* residence on Chrislouw Street (burning oil at night).

The EMPD has said that it would do the following with regards to this issue:

* Monitor the locations and activities going on there

* Approach those involved and if any of our bylaws are being contravened, issue warnings and afford the wrongdoers a grace period to clear the places and to stop the illegal activities

* Failure to comply with the written warnings within the given period would lead to fines being issued and probably the vehicles being impounded as well.

“This office will communicate the outcome of the investigations in this regard,” said EMPD spokesperson Wilfred M. Kgasago.
