Two killed, two critical after taxi rolls

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the wrecked taxi lying on its side down a long embankment.

TWO people have been killed and two others injured after a taxi left the road and rolled multiple times down a large embankment of the M1 highway near the Booysens Road off-ramp on Monday October 19.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the wrecked taxi lying on its side down a long embankment.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said, “When paramedics assessed the scene, they found four patients on the scene. One patient lay partially beneath the taxi while another lay inside the vehicle. Two other patients were found lying outside the vehicle. On further assessment, paramedics found that both patients inside the taxi and partially beneath it had already succumbed to their multiple, fatal injuries.

“Nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead on scene. The two patients found lying outside the taxi were found in a critical condition. Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to nearby facilities for urgent treatment.”
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
