Scouting movement assists Lerato Educational Centre
On October 10, they all got together at the centre and planted nearly three hundred flowers, vegetables and herbs, which the learners will now look after. The plants were donated by Andy Titerton Wholesale Nursery.
SOUTHERN Districts Cubbing, which consists of Cubs, Scouts, Scouters and parents, decided to celebrate the Scouting movement’s centenary by adopting Lerato Educational Centre, in Jackson Informal Settlement, and assisting with improving the centre in any way they can.
On October 10, they all got together at the centre and planted nearly three hundred flowers, vegetables and herbs, which the learners will now look after. The plants were donated by Andy Titerton Wholesale Nursery.
“We will carry on assisting the centre from time to time with projects we have identified, and we are hoping the public will see us and hopefully it will make everyone aware that Scouting and Cubbing in the South is very much alive and useful to the community,” said Dennis Southee, district commissioner in the South of Johannesburg.
Information on Scout and Cub groups
There are five groups of Cubs and Scouts in the South of Johannesburg. Cub groups are from the age of seven to 11 and Scout groups are from 11 to 18 years. If you are interested in finding out more information you can contact the group closest to you.
