REGION 9 Development Centre has funded 12 unemployed community members to complete training in baking with the objective of them starting their own businesses.

The centre will also provide start-up funds to the trainees as part of their entrepreneurship development programme. The programme is designed to address unemployment and poverty, whilst empowering the beneficiaries.

Region 9 Development Centre is a non-profit-organisation (NPO) that was formally started in 2003 and as a community based project, encourages the community to place orders for scones, ginger biscuits, butter biscuits, muffins, sponge cakes, birthday cakes, banana loaves and crunch and sausage rolls as well as meat, fruit and bread platters.
