Small business owners want to help

These small business owners from foreign nations want to contribute their art work to charity organisations to help raise funds.

TWO Turffontein small business owners, who have a passion for art, have decided to contribute their art work to help those less fortunate.

Liton Miah (46) sits behind a counter in his shop in Hay Street creating pieces of art and drawings, a passion he has had since he was a young boy living in his home country, Bangladesh. His partner, Isaac SSozi (33) from Uganda, adds the finishing touches and is responsible for the marketing of their work, entitled Charity.

The duo have no intentions of making profit from their work. The idea is for charity organisations to take their works of art and then sell it to raise funds for the needy.

“I started this businesses here because I needed a way to survive when I came to South Africa. I want organisations to form a partnership so that they can sell these drawings and art pieces and raise money to help the disabled and the needy. I use things people throw away to create these works of art, so I only buy small things like paint and colour pens,” said Liton.

“Organisations that would like to get in touch with us can phone Liton on 061 3498 175 or visit Umoja Trading Shop. Organisations can also phone me on 081 057 1461 or visit IS Laundry on the corner of Hey and De Villiers Streets,” said Isaac.
