SAPS celebrate Women’s Month

In recognition for the difference these women have made in the south communities, Mondeor SAPS showed them some love

MONDEOR SAPS celebrated Women’s Month with a bang when they hosted a women’s breakfast at the SAPS Lecture Hall for all the strong women of the South, on August 27.

At the event, the Station Commander of Mondeor SAPS, Colonel Jacques Bezuidenhout and Colonel Martin Mhlaba welcomed the guests and shared motivational words with all the ladies in the room.

Some of the women who were honoured with a certificate of appreciation were Glenvista 5 RA’s Sarah Wissler, Glenvista Victim Support Unit’s Raquel Neilson, Luisa Rafoma, Zahia Ferreira, Letticia Visser, Anthea Sam, Nonhlanhla Mthembu, Magret Sikhulu, Comaro CHRONICLE news editor Julie Maule, Comaro CHRONICLE reporter Zesuliwe Hadebe, Mondeor SAPS Constable Mnguni, Mondeor SAPS Sergeant Shirley Gqoba, Mondeor Sector 2 CPF’s Michelle Pelser and many others.

Col Bezuidenhout said: “Strong women are classy and know what they deserve.” The colonel further encouraged women to stand up for themselves in society, stating that women should focus on uplifting and empowering other women.

He also stated that events such as these, which seek to empower and show appreciation for the contribution of women, should be hosted on a bigger scale.

Speaking at the event, community activist and well known South resident, Sue Lubbe said: “It’s not that we want to show up the men in our lives but we need to be powerful lionesses. We, as women, each of us are so uniquely different, our beauty is all inside.”

Lubbe spoke on her endeavours in the community and how she relies on God for strength in order to do what she does for the community.

“Our policemen and women are the backbone of our community. We should be able to all club in together and help each other. We need to network and we need to do it right now. We need to work with the police because our information often leads to arrests,” said Lubbe.

She also requested that members of the community show respect to civil servants and be kinder towards them.
